YIN YOGA

Our one hour Yin class is open to everyone. It is like  restorative Yoga. This class is held in an warm room unless otherwise specified by instructor. The Yin class is slower paced and intended to work the ligaments and joints deeper than your regular practice. The Yin series is not intended as a complete practice in itself, but rather as a complementary practice to balance the effects of your regular practice. Consider taking the class before or after your Yin class.
Beginning class with a short meditation, followed by a series of asanas developed to work various areas of the body. Each class focuses on a series of six to eight postures targeting the hips, shoulders, legs, and the spine. Expect to spend between two to seven minutes in each asana allowing you to work the tendons, fascia, and ligaments—with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.

Etiquette

The same rules of etiquette apply, prepare for class as you would any regular class and remember you should try not to leave the room during class. You may however talk and there will be music. A yoga block is used for this class.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes before class starts. The class begins with a short meditation–late students are not permitted to enter the room during this period. Remain in the waiting area and the instructor will let you know when you may enter the room.
