Marcus
He started practicing seven days after 9/11 in Kits, when there was only one school in B.C., (there’s now 23). Having tried yoga a few times before he thought it would be a little chanting, a little stretching and a long nap he was more a little surprised to find the hardest work-out in the world. He played football and rugby through high school and university and had been swimming, weight-training and running but this was like combining everything, adding a sauna and a sense of humour.
Instantly hooked on the yoga he started practicing every morning at 6 am when the West End studio opened a month later. He worked at an organic pet food factory at the time and my boss, who is also a teacher now, would drive us to work after we practiced class; one of many synchronicities!
Six months later he was in L.A. Doing the class twice a day, in a much hotter room with 300 other souls until he graduated and in the intervening eight years he has taught about ten a week since. He has performed stand-up comedy for fourteen years, played in bands for twenty and is finishing a Master’s psychology thesis for Dr. Tomorrow’s Cyberspace University.
