Student Highlight: Stefanie

Doing Bikram Yoga every day is tough. Doing it 100 times in a row is really really tough!

One of our most dedicated regulars, Stefanie Tuccori, has recently completed a 100-class challenge! Read about her experience below as she talks about doing a challenge while working full-time – and her favorite spot in the hot room…

Stefanie, congratulations on completing your 100-day challenge! How does it feel to be done?

Thank you! It feels amazing, very rewarding and relieving!

What inspired you to do it?

In June I completed a 30 day challenge and loved it. I didn’t have enough self-discipline to just go every day. I needed a goal or challenge to keep me motivated.  After 100 days though I have definitely worked it around my schedule and will be able to maintain going daily.

How do you stay motivated in your practice?

I am a very determined person, and when I make up my mind about achieving something I usually do. Never give up, when the going gets tough, push harder!!

What was the best part of the challenge?

The best part was definitely dropping 4 dress sizes and developing muscles in places I didn’t have muscles before! Also, the satisfaction of completing something so physically challenging!

And the worst?

The worst part was trying to complete something so physically challenging! You have days where you don’t want to get out of bed and you have to force yourself to go. Day 1 – 50 were tough because you feel like you’re making no progress. But once you hit the halfway mark it’s all downhill! You can’t give up! It was also tough when you work full-time to go every day, do laundry constantly, drink enough water, eat the right food at the right time, etc etc… but, eventually it becomes routine.

How did you celebrate being done?

I finished strong by doing 3 classes on my final day! And took my 100th class with my favourite teacher, Jozenia!

What are your favorite postures? Least favorite?

My favourite postures are Wind Removing pose because it’s done wonders to my digestive system; for years I have struggled with stomach issues, but no more! And I love Camel pose, especially when I am feeling emotional or upset with something because it washes all of my problems away! My least favourite definitely are Standing Head to Knee because I get so frustrated in that posture, I can’t hold my leg! And Triangle pose I struggle with big time.

Favorite spot in the room?

I like to be close to the waterfall because it’s hotter over there; but it’s close enough to the fan so there’s an escape if you’re just having one of those days!

What’s next?

I am going to keep going and see how many days I can keep it up… maybe another 265?? I am sure eventually I will end up at Teacher Training!

Thinking of doing your own 30, 60 or 90 day challenge? Sign up with the front desk staff before Saturday, January 7th!
